Steven Warwick details new album MOI on PAN, shares first track "Open Fire Hydrant"

Berlin-based musician Steven Warwick (a.k.a. Heatsick) has announced a new album titled MOI, his first physical release under his full name. It’s out through PAN on November 8.

A follow-up to his 2016 “audio-visual ‘mixtape’” Nadir (also released via PAN), MOI is a more ambitious undertaking “considering interior worlds and personal architecture, as found in early spiritual narratives.”

Recorded in spaces across Berlin, Zaragoza, and New York, the record is an eclectic and galvanic take on dance music minimalism. The album’s first track, “Open Fire Hydrant,” pits percussive synth textures and buzzy, monotone vocals against a disciplined groove, creating a repetitive but ever-fluttering interplay between routine and progress. Listen to it below.
