Matt Mondanile sure spends a lot of time on our news feed. Even in stories about other people he manages to get a name drop in the headline. I’ve started to wonder why that is. Is he easy to write about? Do we, as a news team, have a soft spot for mellow psychedelia? Is he paying us under the table to put his name on the front page at least every couple months? While I wouldn’t be opposed to the last one, I have a feeling that it’s just because the dude works. A lot. Mainly because it looks like he has a pretty busy summer ahead of him. Señor Ducktails has just released a new music video and announced a continent-hopping tour coming up.
First, the video for The Flower Lane’s “Under Cover.” Directed by Charles Poekel, the video features Mondanile and a few friends (including two of the other dudes from Real Estate) hanging out in an abandoned house in his native Ridgewood, NJ. The house has actually been featured in another Ducktails music video, so loyal fans may recognize it.
As I mentioned, he has another tour coming up, too. After a few stops in the states, it’s off to Europe for a series of shows as well as some festival dates.
